Book Covers

For this project we were supposed to create two original book covers. one that we have read and one that we haven't. I read Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins and chose to do my own interpretation of the symbolism in the book. Katniss Everdeen is being sought after for treason by the Capitol, and around every turn is finding herself in some sort of trouble. She symbolizes the mockingjay in the story, she is a symbol of freedom and an outcry for the injustices put upon the people of Panem. The flames symbolize her barely escaping the Capitol trying to kill her, the fire threatening to consume her. I chose to do The Lord of the Flies by William Golding for my other book cover. I chose it because there are man different book covers fr this one book, as the analogy can be interpreted in many different ways. After reading a summary of the book, i made the cover. It was interesting making this cover because i had no understanding of what actually goes on within the book so i could make something completely based off of my imagination. I imagined the classic stranded island scene and tried to create it my own way, and also use a font that had the same feel to it as the scene does, edgy and mysterious. Here they are:

Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins

The Lord of the Flies by William Golding
